 |
Bank of Kansas is a strong community bank that has been serving Kansas individuals and businesses since 1907. We currently have branches in Hutchinson, South Hutchinson and Wichita, Kansas. With the addition of the six First National Bank of Anthony (FNBA) branch locations, Bank of Kansas will serve our customers through nine full-service branches. Our corporate headquarters are located in South Hutchinson, KS.
Bank of Kansas is dedicated to customer service and is committed to the communities it serves. We support local, state, and national service organizations and the arts financially, by donating many hours of voluntary assistance, and by providing leadership in each of our geographic markets.
Bank of Kansas is a subsidiary of Southwest Bancorp, Inc., Stillwater Oklahoma, (NASDAQ OKSB, OKSBP), a public company with total assets of $2.9 billion. Through its subsidiaries, Southwest offers commercial and consumer lending, deposit, and investment services, and specialized cash management, consulting, and other financial services from offices in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas and on the Internet, through DirectBanker.
FNBA closed Friday, June 19, 2009, by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) appointed as receiver. Bank of Kansas agreed to acquire substantially all of FNBA’s deposits, loans and certain other assets and liabilities. (FNBA operated its Overland Park and Olathe offices under the trade name Johnson County Bank.) According to regulatory policy, there is no advance notice given to the public.
Effective June 20, 2009, all six branches of FNBA Anthony are branch offices of Bank of Kansas, operating during their normal business hours.
FNBA deposits continue to be insured by the FDIC without interruption.
Yes. FNBA operated its Overland Park and Olathe offices under the Johnson County Bank trade name. Those branches are now offices of Bank of Kansas just like the other FNBA branches.
Please continue to bank as you always have. The FDIC transferred substantially all deposits and loans to Bank of Kansas. If you held an account at the First National Bank of Anthony or Johnson County Bank you now have an account at Bank of Kansas.
The former FNBA locations are now branches of Bank of Kansas. Please note: If you have a FNBA account, you will be able to transact business only at the former FNBA and Johnson County Bank offices in Anthony, Harper, Mayfield, Olathe, Overland Park, and Wichita until you are notified that the system integration has taken place. In turn, existing customers of Bank of Kansas will not be able to transact business at these former FNBA branches until the system integration is complete.
Yes. Please continue to write checks, make ATM transactions, and use our other deposit, loan, safe deposit and other banking services through your former FNBA or Johnson County Bank locations as usual.
The FDIC Standard Maximum Deposit Insurance Amount (SMDIA) for deposits has been increased to $250,000 per depositor per insured financial institution through December 31, 2013.
In addition, Bank of Kansas is participating in the FDIC’s Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program to provide an unlimited FDIC guarantee on funds deposited in non interest-bearing checking accounts through December 31, 2009. This will include former FNBA customers.
If you have deposits at both FNBA and Bank of Kansas: Deposits at the two banks continue to be insured separately by the FDIC for six months after the bank closing date, up to applicable limits.

Yes. In terms of the 'safety' of FNBA deposits, we consider this development very positive for FNBA customers, given Bank of Kansas's fiscal strength. Bank of Kansas is currently classified by the regulators as "well capitalized," the highest possible designation. All FNBA deposits remain safe and sound, just as before, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation within all legal limits.
